A couple of variants of Pool using Photon Networking.

As I normally tend to make local multiplayer games, the is my version of the "distance" / "proximity" / "close but far away" theme. of the 2020 Tasjam

Big disclaimer: lots of temp art/sound taken from Team 17's Arcade Pool II (1999) (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcade_Pool). It seems to be abandonware at this point and is freely (though probably not legally) available on a number of dodgy looking sites (e.g. https://softfamous.com/arcade-pool-2/) (2ND DISCLAIMER: don't blame me if this link is a virus :P)

Two game modes implemented

  1. 14.1 Continuous Pool: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straight_pool (tl;dr: pot any ball, once 14 balls are potted, the rest are re-racked. First to 25 points wins).
  2. Chalk Outline Mode: the same as above, but if the cue ball ends up in the chalk outline you lose your turn.

Aim with the mouse. Left-click to shoot. The further away you click from the cue ball the faster the ball goes (this is the dumbest control scheme).

Try the WebGL version. It should just run in the browser. You'll either need to run two windows (to play against yourself) or get someone else to play at the same time -- there's no AI.

(1 edit)

but good job on the UI

It doesn't work :(
